My son, Henry, has many medical problems. Some are life threatening and some are just annoying. He is 14 so we have been to many, many medical appointments. He usually has at least one appointment a week and sometimes two or three!
Henry took this picture of me at one of the appointments. This is my “you have no idea what you are talking about” look. I often get this look when a doctor cannot figure Henry’s complex medical problems out but is trying to fake it. REALLY ANNOYING!!!!
I am wearing a coral tee from Langford Market on 2nd Street in Austin, TX , J Jill skinny jeans, TOMS ballet flats tiny.cc/qswwbw and necklace and earrings from InPink tiny.cc/yowwbw. My purse is a year or two old and from Banana Republic – I LOVE it!
I threw this outfit on to run some errands. I didn’t take photos of it initially because I thought it was a miss. Half way through the day, I came home and added the necklace and the necklace turned the outfit around! This was super comfortable and easy to wear. It was as comfortable as a tshirt and jeans but much cuter.
Cardigan: Dex for a shop at The Cleveland Clinic, Necklace: Peacock Plume and Bracelet: F21
We went to the Houston Museum of Natural Science to see the Titanic exhibit. Henry, 14, has always been very interested in the Titanic and we have seen several exhibits. We are fortunate that we live in the 4th largest city in the US and we have world class museums only a few miles from home. We visit the museums frequently!
Henry took my photos and he is great at NOT LISTENING to any of my directions so there are no photos of my feet/shoes! I am wearing TOMS blue suede ballet flats – I LOVE them!!!
To start with: my Hunger Games toenails! This was taken before we saw the movie!
On to the outfit: Skinny jeans: J Jill, Sweater: Nutcracker Market, Houston, TX, Tee: Old Navy, Necklace: Stein Mart, Bracelets: InPink, Watch: Stein Mart
My entire family attended the Hunger Games on Thursday at midnight! We all got t-shirts for the occasion!
It was awesome although I think I could have waited until Friday afternoon to see it 🙂 If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend it! The costuming alone is worth the price of admission. Reading the book prior to seeing the movie is also helpful. It is very close to the book!
My husband and I
My kids. My little one, Sam,was very sleepy and allergic!
As I have written before, I am struggling with my photos!!! I have a 9-10 year old Canon Rebel (DSLR), lens, external flash, tripod and now a remote. My first 2 batches of photos were totally unusable. I took these and at least can see ME in the frame. I also don’t like the outfit! I switched the sweater out for a denim jacket after I took the pics and I liked the look better. Oh well! I think I need more time to practice! And maybe find a better background !
Here they are:
Dress: Swap at TX Style Council, Sweater: Banana Republic, Necklace: Peacock Plume http://www.peacockplume.com/new-arrivals/mint-julep-necklace

I am finally home!!! I have traveled 4 times this month and I am ready for some time at home! I alternating taking my kids with me but the four of us need some family time! My next trip is at the end of the month. The entire family is going to Washington DC where my 14 yr old is going to represent the state of Texas for the Epilepsy Foundation and speak with our senators and representatives about Epilepsy awareness, funding, etc. We are so excited and so proud of him!
I flew home today and this is what I wore: Dress: Old Navy tiny.cc/5klcbw, Sweater and Necklace: Stein Mart, Bracelets: Claire’s tiny.cc/kplcbw, black ballet flats, black belt and black leggings.
I am doing speech/autism therapy today and will be on the floor soon! After that, I am going to pitch a nonprofit I work with, http://www.bridgingapps.org, to another nonprofit in hopes of partnering with them. I am so excited about the mission of Bridging Apps – bridging the gap between technology and people with disabilities – that it is an easy pitch!
Today I chose cheetah print jeans from Chico’s (http://tiny.cc/w3ibbw), a black tee and a black soft jacket from Soma (a couple of years old). I am wearing a necklace and earrings set from Sam Moon (www.sammoon.com), a new bracelet from Claire’s and black ballet flats.
I have decided to add more about my life along with my outfit posts. I have changed the name of the blog to reflect my new mission of combining my lifestyle blog, Bento Boxes and Fly Fishing, and my fashion blog, You Can Be Cute and Comfortable.
I travel once a month to South Texas (the Rio Grande Valley) to see families as a part of my PLAY Project. I do parent training for families with kids on the autism spectrum. I love my work and I love bringing it to the Valley!
When I travel, I like to look like I tried. So many people are so casual at the airport and it frankly drives me crazy! This is what I wore on the plane.
I have on an awesome lace dress from Langford Market on 2nd Street in Austin (there is one in the Village in Houston as well)the dress has a little stretch to it so it is super comfy, leggings, black ballet flats and my trusty denim jacket from Bass Pro Shops (Yes you read that right!!! Remember I am a fly fisher!). I have on a Swap Watch from Stein Mart, my new favorite bracelet from Peacock Plume and a chunky pearl necklace from NY and Co.
I got the remote for my DSLR in the mail right before I left town. I promise I will learn to take photos of myself someday soon so I will have better outfit photos!!!!
I had such a great time at Texas Style Council and I learned so much! I cannot even begin to blog all of it. At least not yet. I need time to digest it all!
I met many wonderful women. They were so nice and so genuine. It was surprising to me! I felt very welcome and accepted there. There were women of all shapes, sizes, ages, etc there. It was a wonderfully diverse crowd!
I learned to tweet over the weekend – thanks to Rachael of http://rachaelreally.tumblr.com/ and Joanne of fabulouslyaverage.tumblr.com/. Follow me on twitter @BetsyFurler. Rachael also taught me how to wear bracelets!
I met Pam of http://over50feeling40.blogspot.com/. She is a perfect role model blogger for me! I enjoyed talking with her as well as hearing speak as the moderator of a panel. I carpooled with Emily of www.emilyhallman.com. Her clothes are to die for – go check them out! I also carpooled with Chelsea of http://www.bellavogue.com. She navigated for me all over Austin! I was fascinated by the small town life of Erica of theseminolesweetheart.blogspot.com. I bonded with Genny of gennyalexander.typepad.com over our insecurity with thrifting and our similar clothing choices.
I met so many more! I will continue my list of new friends on my next post!

The photography workshop on Saturday morning – that is Jen of JenLovesKev in the plaid skirt and Kevin is conducting the workshop.
I learned that I need to actually use the DSLR that I have with the tripod, external flash and various lens that I already own. I ordered a remote for my camera and IT IS HERE!!! I will try it out as soon as I have a few minutes to figure it out!
More to follow!!!
