As I stated in my last post, I am loving maxi skirts this summer. Here are a couple of other outfits I have worn recently.
I love this skirt and have worn it a lot already. It is from Old Navy http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=79586&vid=1&pid=118229&scid=118229012
The chambray shirt is from Kohl’s. Here is a similar shirt that is sleeveless. http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/zbrandskiosk/women/sonoma_lifeandstyle/tops/PRD~1006765/SONOMA+life+++style+Chambray+Camp+Shirt.jsp
I won the necklace at the TX Style Council.
This is another maxi shirt – this one is from Gap and it is another of my favorites! http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=5727&vid=0&pid=137710
The vest is vintage Levis from the 70’s!
Once again, my photos are awful and you get a sneak peak of Henry’s messy room!!! Its a good thing I have a day job!
I have been dramatically neglecting my blog! I have been writing a book on using iPads with kids with speech and language challenges and writing some webinars on a similar topic. That and the end of the school year pretty much has consumed all my time!
Now I am in Hondo, TX. I am here because my oldest son, Henry, is nearby on a field trip with GeoForce-Texas. GeoForce is an experiential outreach program that prepares Texas high school students to become part of the geosciences workforce. He will participate in field trips with them each summer of high school. Because of his seizures and other medical issues, I am more comfortable being geographically close to him.
I went shopping in this little town and found a Bealls Department Store – it was in a tiny space and jam packed with clothes! I found two cute summer dresses that I am sure you will see soon!
I have been living in maxi skirts lately. I love how comfortable but pulled together they are! I am also embracing the return of the denim vest! Sorry for the awful quality of the photo!
I wear bracelets every day now thanks to Rachael of http://rachaelreally.tumblr.com/ who I met at the TX Style Council in March.
I learned about “hair doughnuts” from my blogger friends. I was so excited to try one because my hair is just too fine and when I put it in a bun, it looks ridiculous! So, I searched for a “hair doughnut” and found one! I was going on and on about this new invention and found out from both my African-American friends and my dance friends that these have been around for ages!!!! Why didn’t anyone share this info with me??????? So, I am still excited about the hair doughnut and think it is the greatest thing since sliced bread – even if I am decades late on the trend!
Shirt – Anthropologie, Skirt – Calvin Klein, Shoes – DSW (very old), Necklace – NY&Co.
Here’s my bun! Super easy and I LOVE IT!!!!
I loved my outfit today so I decided to take the camera outside to take some photos. As soon as I got it all set up, it started raining! The iPhone photos are so much easier!
Dress: Langford Market, Rice Village; Shoes: TOMS; Bracelets: InPink and Necklace: Jewelry and More, Rice Village
Last week we were in DC with the Epilepsy Foundation. My 14 yr old son, Henry, has severe epilepsy (along with a host of other serious medical conditions) and was chosen by the Texas Epilepsy Foundation affiliate to represent a large part of Texas on Capitol Hill and advocate for epilepsy awareness and level funding for epilepsy research. We were able to sight see for two days and then we attended a day and a half of training. On the last day, we went to Capitol Hill and met with staff from the offices of our Senators and Representatives. It was an awesome experience! The very best part of the experience was that Henry got to meet other teens and young adults living VERY accomplished lives with epilepsy!!! They were incredibly inspiring!
This is our first day in DC. This is one of my favorite outfits (you have seen it before!) and I wore it on the plane. We ended up walking for MILES and while these shoes are comfortable – they are not that comfortable!
My boys and I are in front of the Washington Monument! It was really windy and chilly! Henry is wearing his seizure helmet. Can you believe he goes most of the day in this helmet? And he is confident and not at all embarrassed! It amazes me! I definitely was not that brave or confident when I was in middle school!
Flowers at the WWII Memorial
My family on Capitol Hill! Sam and I had a terrible case of STATIC!!!! And for some reason, I thought that wearing hose was a good idea…
Henry sitting at the desk of one of the TX Representatives!
A sight seeing outfit! Old Navy Scarf, J Jill Cardigan, Eddie Bauer jeans and Mephisto Shoes (SOOOOOO comfortable!)
My son, Henry, has many medical problems. Some are life threatening and some are just annoying. He is 14 so we have been to many, many medical appointments. He usually has at least one appointment a week and sometimes two or three!
Henry took this picture of me at one of the appointments. This is my “you have no idea what you are talking about” look. I often get this look when a doctor cannot figure Henry’s complex medical problems out but is trying to fake it. REALLY ANNOYING!!!!
I am wearing a coral tee from Langford Market on 2nd Street in Austin, TX , J Jill skinny jeans, TOMS ballet flats tiny.cc/qswwbw and necklace and earrings from InPink tiny.cc/yowwbw. My purse is a year or two old and from Banana Republic – I LOVE it!
I threw this outfit on to run some errands. I didn’t take photos of it initially because I thought it was a miss. Half way through the day, I came home and added the necklace and the necklace turned the outfit around! This was super comfortable and easy to wear. It was as comfortable as a tshirt and jeans but much cuter.
Cardigan: Dex for a shop at The Cleveland Clinic, Necklace: Peacock Plume and Bracelet: F21
We went to the Houston Museum of Natural Science to see the Titanic exhibit. Henry, 14, has always been very interested in the Titanic and we have seen several exhibits. We are fortunate that we live in the 4th largest city in the US and we have world class museums only a few miles from home. We visit the museums frequently!
Henry took my photos and he is great at NOT LISTENING to any of my directions so there are no photos of my feet/shoes! I am wearing TOMS blue suede ballet flats – I LOVE them!!!
To start with: my Hunger Games toenails! This was taken before we saw the movie!
On to the outfit: Skinny jeans: J Jill, Sweater: Nutcracker Market, Houston, TX, Tee: Old Navy, Necklace: Stein Mart, Bracelets: InPink, Watch: Stein Mart
My entire family attended the Hunger Games on Thursday at midnight! We all got t-shirts for the occasion!
It was awesome although I think I could have waited until Friday afternoon to see it 🙂 If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend it! The costuming alone is worth the price of admission. Reading the book prior to seeing the movie is also helpful. It is very close to the book!
My husband and I
My kids. My little one, Sam,was very sleepy and allergic!
As I have written before, I am struggling with my photos!!! I have a 9-10 year old Canon Rebel (DSLR), lens, external flash, tripod and now a remote. My first 2 batches of photos were totally unusable. I took these and at least can see ME in the frame. I also don’t like the outfit! I switched the sweater out for a denim jacket after I took the pics and I liked the look better. Oh well! I think I need more time to practice! And maybe find a better background !
Here they are:
